When you were a little kid, the world seemed like a more inviting place, didn’t it? I mean, as kids, your dad was the strongest man on earth. Your mom was the most beautiful woman you had ever laid eyes on. Your big brother or sister was the toughest kid in the neighborhood, so you dared anyone to mess with you because at every opportunity, you reminded your playmates of just how tough your sibling was! You know the ones – your dream of marrying Prince Charming or a beautiful princess and having four children (two boys and two girls – to keep things equal). You were going to live in a castle (after all, you were a king (or a queen)), drive any car you wanted, and what’s best of all, you were going to have more money than the whole world had ever seen.
As kids, we knew the when, the who, the how, the where, the what, and the why. Dreaming up the ideal world we would live in once we grew up was just a natural process. As a kid, we had it all figured out.
Well, if that’s the case, what happened? I’ll tell you what happened – we grew up. And when we passed from youth into adulthood, a process happened to us that happens to every living creature on earth. That process is called life.
And, life has dealt so many a bad hand. So bad, in fact, that the vast majority of those who make it to adulthood have stopped dreaming not just for a better life, but for anything. And, that’s incredibly heartbreaking.
The truth is, in life, there are things that happen to us that are beyond our control. No one can deny that. But before we put all of the blame on “life”, there is another major factor in this equation of why people stop dreaming. That other factor is based on the decisions we’ve made.
You know the ones – the decisions where we have made one compromise after the other. Need some help identifying those decisions? They may be more familiar like this: “Hmm, maybe we don’t need that massive two-story house on the beach. A decent one-story in the suburbs will do.”
Or, how about this one? “That convertible is just not practical. That used minivan will work.”
Or, “Who needs a knight in shining armor, anyway? A warm body can be just as cozy. Does it really matter that we are not compatible on any level? Opposites attract, don’t they?”
And on and on it goes…until our sweet dreams go from the forefront of our minds to the lonely and lost land of being put on the “back burner” where after a period of time, they’re forgotten.
Maybe that hurt. Maybe some of this hit closer to home than you would’ve liked for it to, but the truth is the truth. Sometimes, we need to hear things that shock us back into reality, so we’ll take a deep and honest look at our lives and make a change.
Surely none of this is meant to hurt anyone’s feelings, but I do hope it will make you think back to those days when you were invincible as a kid, and you truly believed you could do and be anything you desired.
Because the truth of the matter is YOU CAN!
It is time to stop compromising your future and apply your heart to wisdom. It is worth repeating because it is true: You can do and be anything you desire.
And one last time, so you can understand I mean what I am saying: You can do and be anything that you desire.
The reason so many have stopped dreaming is because they realize that their current financial status only allows for survival, most of the time, and nothing extra. To dream of a bigger house, a nicer car, a dream vacation and tons of money in the bank is too hurtful, so people just stop dreaming altogether.
It is true. Money can’t buy happiness, but if I were a betting person, I’d bet if I walked up to a complete stranger and told them, I’d give them a million dollars, they’d be pretty darn happy!
It is also true that money can’t buy health. But, it can buy you the best medical care if you ever need it.
Money can’t buy you a body like Halle Berry or Tom Cruise, but it can certainly pay for a gym membership or a personal trainer or an expensive cosmetic surgeon to help you get the results you’re looking for!
Money can’t buy love. But, it is astonishing that of all the divorces that occur, the highest percentage result from money troubles. How many marriages could be saved if people had more money?
Money seems to be the answer for everything!
If you wrote down everything that you deem “wrong” in your life, you’d be surprised to find that seventy percent or more could be alleviated with, you guessed it, MORE MONEY!
