When hosting an Ardyss showcase, the most important thing to remember is that Ardyss is a business, and the host should be professional at all times. Even though for the most part, the people that are invited will be relatives and friends of the host, it is still imperative to present Ardyss to them in a way that speaks of professionalism.
What does that look like? First, the host should feel free to offer snacks and beverages to their guests. They don’t have to provide a full-fledged meal. The guests are there to see the host’s new business, not for a buffet. Light refreshments such as cookies and bottled water will be appreciated by all.
The host of the Ardyss showcase should have the products that came in their Power Pack set up for display at least half an hour before their showcase is set to start. Also, they need to make sure they have some applications ready for those who want to join their business available at the end of the presentation. It is a good idea to make a list of the other items needed for a successful showcase like measuring tape, pens, price sheets, and things of that nature before the host goes to their showcase to ensure they have everything they need.
There should be adequate lighting. Nothing’s worse than walking into a dark room and trying to focus on what’s being presented and being unable to see!
The Ardyss showcase host should make sure their venue, whether it is their home, a friend’s home or a hotel conference room is a comfortable temperature. As a consummate host, you don’t want it to be too cold or too hot. It tends to takes the guests’ focus off of what is being presented. If someone says they are cold or hot, believe them, and adjust the thermostat.
Also, make sure there are no TVs on when guests start to arrive. It is perfectly fine to have music playing as long as it is something that is considered “soft listening.” A smooth jazz CD is always a good alternative. Just remember to turn off the music when the presenter gets up to speak.
The Ardyss showcase host should be comfortably dressed. They don’t have to dress to the “nines,” but they shouldn’t have on sweat pants, house shoes and a t-shirt, either. It’s fine to wear jeans as long as a nice shirt is worn with them. The host always wants to look presentable. That’s the idea.
Hosts, if you have small children, please do try to find a sitter for them. Small children, as much of a blessing as they are, can be a distraction for your guests. As a host, you want your guests to be able to focus on the information being offered.
And, as much as a host may love their pets, if animals are in your home, not everyone will be as comfortable as you are around your pets. So, please be courteous and put them outside or in a room where they can’t interact with the guests. Just assume that someone is going to be “afraid” of your pet and go ahead and make sure they are maintained until everyone leaves.
This is critical. Please, please be respectful of people’s time. Start on time. Encourage your Ardyss showcase guests to get there a few minutes before the event starts. It’s not fair for those who arrived on time to have to sit another half an hour while the “straggler” makes their way in. If you give anyone a “window” to arrive late, make sure it’s no more than about 7-10 minutes. After that, catch them up after the Ardyss showcase. Go ahead and start for those who were on time. It’s the right thing to do, and those people will appreciate the courtesy.
Before the host gets into the Ardyss International presentation, ask everyone to hold their questions until the end. As the host goes through the presentation, remember, if they mess up…the audience doesn’t know! Keep going! Mistakes are made by everyone the first few times they do an Ardyss showcase. It’s how they get good at giving presentations! Practice, indeed, makes perfect!
Remember, the host is in control. It is their showcase. Don’t allow someone to keep interjecting too much because it will throw off the attention of the other guests. Kindly ask them to hold their questions and comments until the end, and at that time, happily address them.
Adhering to a few simple rules and some common sense knowledge, anyone can host a successful Ardyss showcase.
